A really beautiful area to hike! And there's a good amount of interconnected trails to explore.
You can hike all the way out to the Pacific Ocean using the Fort to Sea Trail if you like, but we only hiked westward as far as the Clatsop Ridge Overlook. That spot really doesn't give you much of an ocean view, but it was a nice stop for lunching on a picnic table.
Afterwards we came back along the Kwis Kwis, Lower Slough, and South Slough trails. There's a fair amount of short steep hills up and down along the slough, yielding a good amount of total elevation. There's a small bridge that passed over the slough that was pretty neat, with a tree canopy. The Netul River Trail was well developed and we saw a lot of local residents there; the other trails were mostly empty.
Overall a great place that I'd love to come back to and explore some more.
Lovely and green.
Mom is amazing for doing such a long and steep hike in her 70's!
So many different kinds of mushrooms on display.
The mushrooms and moss look so cool interwoven.
I was excited to catch photos of this super cute red squirrel.
A nice big heron along the Netul river. My approach eventually made him fly away.
Banana slug encounter.
